“CRITIC’S CORNER”

Today, I met one of my HEROES. Irving “Scacy” Haywood is the former lead singer of The D.C. Playboys, who recorded “You Were All I Needed”, my favorite song of all time! I dedicate it to Carolyn, my wife. It was released in 1964, produced by Van McCoy, their only hit, becoming a classic and collector’s item.

Scacy went on to sing with other groups, notably The Ascots, The Presidents/Anacostia as well as having formed Scacy and The Sound Service. He won both The Prince George’s County and Maryland Senior Idol Competitions. We’ve been looking forward to meeting each other for he’s also complimented me on my vocal music videos on my Facebook page. He and other music industry veterans who contributed their likes and comments are reposted here. On the Ed Hines Facebook page, tap the post below this one to hear The D.C. Playboys, “You Were All I Needed.”
